Union Mandate: SOCA is a constituency group seeking to initiate and maintain fellowship between students who self-identify as Black or African descent, and allies who are interested in the varied African/Caribbean descendant cultures; promoting and raising awareness of the social, cultural and political issues significant to African and Caribbean descendants. Through the various events that we host - including Black History month initiatives, pub nights, socials, symposia, seminars and other cultural events - we provide our membership with opportunities to engage intellectually with each other as well as with the wider SFU community (both on and off-campus); to foster camaraderie among our student population; and to develop and maintain meaningful social relationships.
